Perrysburg plans work session
PERRYSBURG - The school board here will continue discussions of a new school building during a special meeting at 7 a.m. Monday at the Commodore Building, 140 E. Indiana Ave.

Chess club meets Tuesday
The Bowling Green Chess Club meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at Grounds for Thought.
Casual games are played and players of all ability levels are welcome

Grand jury adds more charges in Pemberville man's case PDF Print E-mail

A Wood County grand jury handed down indictments for 17 individuals at its July 3 session including three additional charges for a Pemberville man previously indicted. Also a Perrysburg man was indicted for felonious assault.
The latest session charged Gabriel Somogyi, 32, of Pemberville and currently housed at Wood County jail, with abduction, violating a protection order and having weapons while under disability. The defendant was previously indicted for theft in June and with abduction and domestic violence in January.
Patrick Finerd, age 29. and also listed in jail, was charged with domestic violence and violating a protection order.
Dean Kempski, 37, of Perrysburg faces one count of felonious assault.
Other indictments include:
• Matthew A. Wright, 34, of North Baltimore, for domestic violence

Vehicle used in robbery was stolen
The vehicle that crashed after a high speed chase Tuesday south of the city was stolen.
Thomas F. Quick Jr. allegedly stole the vehicle in Taylor, Mich., before attempting to rob the Tan Pro on West Wooster Street.
Quick, of Gaylord, Mich., was taken by Life Flight to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center where he remains in critical condition in ICU.

Rapids Rally returns Saturday PDF Print E-mail

GRAND RAPIDS — The canal village will be celebrating Rapids Rally by the River Saturday with a parade, chicken barbecue and musical.
The day will include a parade at 11:30 a.m., a chicken barbecue at the old fire hall on Front Street, starting at 11 a.m. until gone,
and a rubber ducky race.
At 3 p.m., the 2nd annual Great Grand Rapids Duck Race will dump 3,000 ducks in the canal at Mary Jane Thurston State Park and they will make their way to Bluebell Peninsula. Just a buck-a-duck can get you a chance to win up to $1,500. Duck sales will be going on all day downtown, or call 419-832-1106 to buy a block of ducks.

Bradner celebrates fire dept., EMS anniversaries at Day in the Park PDF Print E-mail

BRADNER - Step back over 100 years as Bradner celebrates two anniversaries at its annual Day in the Park on July 19.
The event will kick off at noon with a parade featuring at least 50 units, many of them fire departments from surrounding communities.
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Bradner Volunteer Fire Department, and the 60th anniversary of the EMS squad.
The department used horse-drawn trucks when in started in 1894. A replica of a 1904 hand-drawn hose cart will be included in the parade, from Lake Township, as will a horse-drawn steamer truck, circa 1895, from Leipsic.
