NORTH BALTIMORE — U.S. Congressman Robert Latta, R-Bowling Green, will speak Wednesday at Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative’s annual Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE) Legislative Meeting to discuss regulatory issues impacting electric co-ops’ ability to deliver affordable energy. Also speaking are State Representative Tim Brown, R-Bowling Green, and Sharen Neuhardt, Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor of Ohio, along with Spencer Waugh, Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives Manager of Government Affairs.
The free event, which runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and includes a full breakfast, is open to members of electric co-op political action committees and elected officials.

TOLEDO - The Toledo Zoo has been honored as a FamilyFun Magazine Travel Awards winner, and appears in the magazine's April issue. The Travel Awards rely on real families from across the country to recognize the nation's best kid-friendly locations and vacation spots. U.S. family travel destinations were ranked in a variety of categories, including kid-friendly cities and sites, zoos and aquariums, and theme parks.
The Toledo Zoo earned double national honors: second among zoos and aquariums, and eighth overall.
"I'm honored that so many FamilyFun readers rate the Toledo Zoo as a top choice," Jeff Sailer, the Zoo's executive director, said. "We are grateful for our visitors' support and for Lucas County voters' longtime levy support which make this possible."

COLUMBUS — Jones-Hamilton Co., Walbridge, was one of 26  companies in Ohio honored recently by the Ohio Chemistry Technology Council for exceptional performances in environmental, health, safety and security with the organization’s annual Awards for Excellence.
The council said awards are presented to companies that have shown commitment to the protection of people and the environment, safety at its facilities, effective communications with the public and exceptional performance in at least one of the award’s four performance areas.
The awards were presented at the organization’s 36th annual conference in Columbus.
