The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce will present the Small Business of the Year Award at the 2014 Mid-Year Meeting.
This award recognizes businesses located within the Bowling Green city limits that demonstrate achievement in management and workplace excellence, product innovation and community and social responsibility.
Its purpose is to acknowledge publicly the contributions made by area companies to business growth in Bowling Green, and to illustrate the talent in the Bowling Green business community.
Nomination forms for the 2014 Small Business of the Year Award are due to the Chamber on June 16 and are available at www.bgchamber.net as well as at the Chamber office.

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce will host a Legislative Update with Ann Longsworth-Orr, Northwest Ohio Regional representative from the office of Sen. Sherrod Brown.
She will visit Bowling Green on Tuesday at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St., at 8 a.m.
Topics will include an update on current events and initiatives Brown is working on, and a question and answer session.
This event is free, but due to space limitations, reservations are recommended.

Northwood man dies in crash after having medical problem
NORTHWOOD - A Northwood man was killed after the vehicle he was driving struck a light pole and a tree after the man suffered a medical issue around 10:46 a.m. Friday.
Richard L. Thomas, 55, was just a few blocks from his home when he suffered from the apparent medical episode in the 1900 block of Bordeaux Rue and crashed the 2000 Buick he was driving, Northwood police said.
Northwood EMS attempted to revive him at the scene, but Thomas was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.

GRAND RAPIDS - Village council on Monday agreed to award a $68,900 bid to Central Painting, Navarre, to complete interior painting of the village's water tank.
The bid came in below the $78,000 estimate for the project.
Also at Monday's meeting, council:
• Agreed to pay for $4,853 in repairs to the playground at the former Grand Rapids Elementary school site.
•  Asked Village Administrator Chad Hoffman to seek an opinion from Mike Marsh, legal counsel for the village, to follow up on a re-zoning request made to council at its April meeting by Brian Habegger, a village resident and owner of Wright-Habegger Funeral Home.

Port Authority meets Monday
The Wood County Port Authority will hold is regular meeting Monday at 7:30 a.m. at Northwestern Water and Sewer District, 12560 Middleton Pike, Bowling Green.

Perrysburg Twp. board seeks alternate
Perrysburg Township is seeking an alternate member for its Zoning Commission.
Zoning Inspector Kelly Hemminger notified township trustees Tuesday that John Benavides resigned as an alternate member, a post he's held since 2000. Hemminger said Benavides is moving and will no longer be eligible for commission membership.
