PEMBERVILLE - Bittersweet Farms Pemberville will host an 'Weeinie Roast Open House Saturday from 2  to 6 p.m. to raise awareness of autism, and to open the property up to the community.
With the increasing number of individuals being diagnosed with autism every year, this event is intended as a special thank you from the parents to the community for all their support throughout the years.  Without the community's support, Bittersweet would not be the success it is today.
Bittersweet Pemberville, 1926 Kahler Road, provides services for adolescents with autism.  The program focuses on transitioning adolescents and young adults with autism into adulthood, and assists in their development to help them reach their goals.  The Bittersweet model offers students the opportunity to grow and develop with a sense of purpose and meaning through farm related activities.
The open house will be an opportunity for parents and families, as well as the outside community to tour the grounds and school building.  Visitors will be able to see the art room, classrooms, water feature pond, goat house, basketball court, and the greenhouse where the students grow flowers and fresh produce.  The event will include a bake sale, hot dog roast, and bonfire.
The Hot Flashes, a women's vocal group, will be performing from 4 to 5 p.m.  Dots the Clown will also be performing and making her debut.
Frobose Meat Locker is sponsoring the event.
