A triple grand opening kept the management and staff of Thayer Family Dealerships busy last week. At top, Sales Consultant Brett Ritchie (left) shows a 2013 Honda Accord to John and Pam Shumaker at the new Thayer Honda dealership. Middle, the Toyota/Scion dealership celebrated its new facility, while the Chevrolet dealership marked the week by showing off its renovated facility. The Chevrolet dealership, bottom, is the oldest of the family businesses. Ralph Thayer started the family in the auto business in 1935 with a used car lot in Toledo and a Chevrolet dealership in Weston. He obtained the Chevy dealership in BG in the early 1950s, operating where the Federal Building (Post Office) stands today, remaining there until relocating to North Main Street in 1965.
