Citing her success with negotiating a new labor contract with faculty, the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees Friday voted to give President Mary Ellen Mazey a 2-percent pay increase plus a $50,000 bonus.
The pay increase brings her salary to $390,274, a hike of $7,652. The bonus does not become part of her base salary.

The resolution calling for the increase cites both the collective bargaining agreement, the first between the university and faculty, and "the successful accreditation report from the Higher Learning Commission.”

The rest of the university’s staff also has received a 2-percent raise.

Mazey has been president since July, 2011.
Mazey said the progress the university has made has been a team effort. “It’s not what I can do, it’s what I can get others to do.”
She said taking the top post at BGSU “was the best decision of my life.”
She said she has enjoyed being part of both the university community as well as the Bowling Green community.
She’s enjoy dealing with the faculty even during the "difficult” period when the contract was being negotiated. And speaking as Homecoming activities were getting underway, she said she has enjoyed meeting the graduates of the university.
“The alumni truly love Bowling Green State University,” Mazey said.
