HURON — Bowling Green State University Trustees Friday afternoon approved room and board increases effective with the fall semester that starts in late August.
Room rates will increase an average of 2.37 percent and the meal plan costs will increase an average of two percent.
No action is is expected on tuition until late spring or early summer.
Trustees met on the BGSU Firelands Campus for the first time in several years.
Trustees also approved several projects for this summer:
• A $13.4 million renovation for the Student Recreation Center. The overhaul is intended to update the building, which was opened in the late 1970s.
• A $4.8 million project that will develop a prototype learning space utilizing about half of the second floor of Olscamp Hall. The plan is to create both traditional and flexible learning space. Assessment will help the university as it decides how to renovate other academic spaces on campus.
• A $800,000 renovation of a portion of the first floor of Founders Quadrangle for use by the Honors Learning Community, which is now located in Harshman Quadrangle. Much of the area was previously used as dining space.
Check back later for additional details.
