Bowling Green State University student Dionte R. Davis has been picked up on a Cleveland Police warrant because he is wanted to serve as a witness in a murder case in Cleveland.
Davis, 24, Cleveland, was arrested Aug. 4 in Bowling Green.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Cleveland Municipal Court, Davis was wanted as a witness in a murder case involving Brandon Cartellone, 21, Cleveland. Davis is not accused of any role in the murder, but is wanted to provide information on the case.
The case was bound over from Cleveland Municipal Court to Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and, as of Aug. 14, was to go before a grand jury there. However, no further update was available in the case. A representative of the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts indicated that they did not know whether the grand jury had already heard, or still has yet to hear, the case, stating that those proceedings are not public record.
Davis' case was mentioned in an Aug. 7 story in the Sentinel-Tribune which principally discussed a meth arrest in Bowling Green. Davis' case is completely unrelated to that incident.
