A member of the Bowling Green State University football team remained in jail this morning after his
arrest early Sunday on a charge of attempted rape.
Bowling Green Police said this morning that William Houston, 19, Dublin, was reportedly allowed to stay
overnight at a residence in the 200 block of Manville Avenue.
The complainant told police that when she woke up, she allegedly observed Houston with his pants down and
on top of her female roommate.
Houston was reportedly then thrown out of the residence. He was subsequently arrested by police at his
residence hall room.
The incident was reported around 5 a.m.
Houston was listed at the Wood County jail this morning. He is scheduled to make an initial court
appearance today.
Houston, who will be a sophomore this year, is a running back with the Falcons. He was named MAC East
Player of the Week in 2013 after rushing for 29 yards and three touchdowns versus Tulsa. He had 49
carries for 211 yards during the 2013 season, and was tied for a team-high 11 touchdowns, according to
the Falcon athletics website.
Jason Knavel, BGSU’s assistant athletic director for athletic communications, said this morning that they
"are waiting for more details. We’re anticipating more details to come out of it in the next few
days. It’s pretty early in the process."
