The matter was concluded Monday in Bowling Green Municipal Court.
Durkin, 42, Perrysburg, was originally charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and a marked lanes violation following his arrest by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper at Interstate 75 and East Wooster Street at 2:54 a.m. on Aug. 24.
Durkin was later involved in an crash at 11:20 a.m. that day on Hull Prairie Road at Five Point Road. His vehicle was struck by a Perrysburg woman who was cited for failure to yield and was found to be at fault for the crash.
Durkin, however, was cited for driving under suspension as a result of the OVI arrest earlier that morning.
As the result of a prosecutor recommendation, the OVI count was amended to reckless operation on a highway, and the driving under suspension count was amended to no operator's license - expired operator's license. The marked lanes count was dismissed. Durkin was found guilty of the amended charges.
For the reckless operation count, Durkin is to pay $395, and must also pay a $625 fine for the license offense.
In addition, he must undertake a driver intervention program. Probation was imposed through Dec. 2, 2015, and his driver's license is suspended through Aug. 24, 2014. He will have driving privileges for work and other necessities.
Durkin was placed on an unpaid, seven-day administrative leave by the university after the offense, and subsequently reinstated. A disciplinary agreement for his continued employment was included in the reinstatement, as was a pay freeze for the next year.
