The June 1 opening date for the new Bowling Green pool complex at City Park is not going to happen.
Director of Parks and Recreation Dr. Michelle Grigore told the Board of Parks and Recreation this week the project is at least 1 1/2 weeks behind schedule, due mostly to wet weather.
"We're looking at June 8 or 15. It's all weather dependent," she said Wednesday. "There's still a lot of concrete decking to pour and the rain keeps that from happening."
To open June 1 the pool had to be ready to fill by the middle of May and give the staff a week to be trained on its operation. Those things will still need to be done no matter when the work is complete.
The board also:
• Learned the yard signs in support of the 1.3 mill levy renewal on the May 7 ballot were being placed this week.
• Approved the pool protocol reviewed at the March meeting. Also approved was a $100 rental fee for the pool between 10 a.m. and noon and a $1 admission for the water feature area on days when the rest of the complex is not open.
• The board's next meeting is May 28.
