Bowling Green’s new aquatic complex attracted about as many users in its first month as the facility it replaced attracted in a season.
Opening June 15, the pool attracted 20,000 users in its first month, Director of Parks and Recreation Dr. Michelle Grigore told city council Monday night.
“We have sold $70,000 worth of passes compared to $45,000 all of last season. Daily sales have brought in $44,000, compared to about $33,000 all of last year,” she said.
Season pass prices were held at the same level as a year ago.
Concession stand sales are also strong.
“Swimming lessons have been very popular. Most of the users have been very happy but we are getting some good suggestions. We are keeping the pool open longer hours in the day in an effort to find out how the community wants to use it,” Grigore said. She added experiences this season will be reviewed and any changes can be implemented for the 2014 season.
