At a 1:09 a.m. traffic stop Sunday at 300 N. Prospect St., two men were arrested in a stolen vehicle.
Jonathan K. Clemons, 20, and Travis D. Schwinkendorf, 21, both of Port Clinton, were both arrested for receiving stolen property and obstructing official business. Clemons also was arrested for underage/under the influence, and was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired, prohibited alcohol (BAC 0.160), lighted lights required, stopping after an accident, and possession of marijuana.
The incident started when the two were spotted in a white Ford Explorer, without its lights on, eastbound on East Evers Avenue then southbound on North Prospect Street. When police pulled up behind it, the driver, Clemons, slowed the vehicle and pulled over to the side, but before it stopped, the two suspects exited the vehicle and ran from the scene.
Schwinkendorf was found in city Lot 6 behind the library. Clemons was arrested near the scene.
Both refused to speak with police, and both requested attorneys.
Both were taken to jail.
The vehicle was stolen from 120 Evers Ave.
