BG optometrist Cheryl Archer named to state board

Bowling Green optometrist Cheryl Archer has been appointed to the Ohio State Board of
Optometry by Gov. John Kasich.The five-tear term runs through Sept. 24, 2018.The board consists of five
licensed optometrists and one public members over 50 years of age. Board members supervise the
investigation of patient complaints and make decisions regarding the implementation of optometry laws
and rules according to the Ohio Revised Code.This also include monitoring compliance to the annual
continuing education requirements and licensure renewals of all Ohio optometrists.Archer graduated cum
laude from the Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1984 after first receiving her bachelor’s
degree from DePauw University.She is one of five doctors in Premier Vision Group, with locations in
Bowling Green, Lima and Minster.Archer is a volunteer for the Realeyes classroom initiative, Vision USA,
InfantSee, iSee in-school eye exams, and participated in a VOSH eye care mission in Ukraine.She is past
president and board member of the Ohio Optometric Association and serves on the board of directors for
the Ohio Optometric Association and the board of directors for the Ohio Optometric Foundation and
Optometry Cares, the American Optometric Foundation.Archer has also served as a director of the
Wapakoneta Area Community Foundation and was a member of Rotary Club.She and her husband, John, also an
optometrist, enjoy traveling and have four children and two grandsons.
