Wood County Hospital's S-district site plan for a 2,300-square foot radiology and oncology addition was approved Tuesday night by Bowling Green City Council.
Bill Kidd, director of support services, said work on the project should start no later than early April and be completed by November. The project will provide a service that has not been available at the hospital since the early 1990s, he said.
The addition will be on the north side of the medical building, extending into a portion of an existing parking lot.
During a public hearing on the site plan before the council meeting a neighboring property owner expressed concern about storm water runoff from the  property. Tom Maidlow said the hospital had made some efforts to solve the problem but between the runoff from the hospital and the drainage on Parker Street, the problem has not been solved.
Kidd met with Maidlow after the hearing to discuss the issue.
The project also includes adding 20 parking spaces on the north side of the lot north of the hospital.
Dave Saneholtz, of Poggemeyer Design Group, said three parking spaces dedicated for handicapped use in the project area would be relocated in what will remain of the lot south of the hospital.
