BG man hurt in wrong-way crash on I-75 PDF Print E-mail

A Bowling Green man was seriously injured Sunday morning in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 75 just south of Bowling Green.
The Ohio Highway Patrol Bowling Green post reports that at approximately 1 a.m. Les C. Lundquest, 29, was driving a 1999 Ford pickup southbound in the northbound lanes near milepost 179, just south of Ohio 6. James H. Mechem, 57, of Columbus, was driving a 2009 International tractor trailer northbound. The vehicles collided head on. The tractor trailer then went off the left side of the roadway into the median.
Lundquest sustained serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. He was not listed as a patient there this morning
Mechem was taken to Wood County Hospital, where he was treated and then released.
The patrol report indicates alcohol and drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. Seatbelts were in use by both drivers.
The incident remains under investigation.
