A Bowling Green man was arrested Saturday morning following a standoff that began when police sought to arrest him on a domestic violence complaint that had been filed Thursday.

James Henley, a resident of the 800 block of Conneaut Avenue, acted on a tip that he was in the residence.

BG police said Henley refused to exit the residence and initially would not allow three children to leave the residence. The children were eventually allowed to leave but Henley remained inside.

The Wood County Sheriff's Department Special Response Team was called and made entry to the house, placing Henley in custody. Chemical munitions were used upon entry.

Henley was taken to Wood County Hospital for treatment of an unrelated medical condition and then taken to the Wood County Justice Center.

Police were assisted at the scene by the Bowling Green Fire Department, BGSU Police Department, and the Wood County Sheriff’s Department.
