The Downtown Farmers Market will have a special feature on Wednesday as it teams with the Belleville Brothers Market. Staff from the meat market will be grilling pork-a-lean sandwiches from 5 to 7 p.m. The staff of the Belleville operation are holding a week-long celebration of its 100th anniversary. The pork-a-leans will be served with a cupcake made by Forshee Farms Cottage Bakery and bottled water, for a $3 donation to the Bowling Green Fireworks fund. The Belleville family, Forshee Farms and the farmers' market are donating the products to enable all the money raised to benefit the fireworks fundraiser. The public is invited to enjoy the "signature Wood County sandwich."
The farmers' market will also provide entertainment that day featuring The Long Lost Brothers. The group includes Larry Batoki, Dick Hermes, and Jack Schilb, who will perform together again. Many may remember them as market guests from last year. There will be no market held on July 4. Additional entertainment scheduled includes July 11, Meaghan Roberts; July 18, Acoustic Penguin; and July 25, Kitty Glitter.
