PEMBERVILLE – There’s a fresh young face along historic Front Street in downtown Pemberville.
Catherine "Catie" Agan has opened Starlight Studios, a full service beauty, nail and tanning
salon at 208 E. Front St.
The 2013 graduate of Otsego/Penta Career Center focused on cosmetology while in high school. She brings
three years experience to her own business and has been very pleased with the initial response.
"It’s been really good (for my first week.) It’s been a lot better than expected," Agan said.

She says she offers a full line of salon services from hair cuts and styling to facials, tanning,
manicures and a wide variety of other nail products and design. She says one of the specialties in the
nail salon is "shellac," a gel polish which cures under ultraviolet light.
Agan said the product is a thicker nail polish and is ideal for people who work with their hands, noting,
"It minimizes chipping."
Originally from Virginia, she said she moved to the area with her parents when she was in seventh grade.
Her grandparents and other family continue to live in the area. She really likes the community and loves
the folks in Pemberville.
"I saw the places available (downtown) and decided to open my own business," she said.
Agan is the sole operator in the shop, however her fiance, James Coon, does assist her as a volunteer
receptionist and also does other cleaning, chores and maintenance around the salon. The couple are
planning a May 2015 wedding.
Eventually, one day down the road, she said she would like to hire someone to work with her. She would
also consider renting the second booth in her shop to another licensed stylist.
Starlight Studios is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.;
and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. She extends an invitation for people to stop in and visit or to
