NORTHWOOD - One person was arrested this weekend at the site of the former Woodville Mall after allegedly taking copper from the scene.
Just before 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, Northwood Police were alerted to two males pushing a loaded two-wheeled handcart and walking out of the mall parking lot.
They were later found by police in the 4000 block of Woodville Road and after being questioned as to their activity, one of the males fled on foot while the officer was able to maintain control of the other suspect.
That man, Peter Magris Jr., 36, Toledo, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools. The handcart was found to contain copper wire and copper piping from the mall site, which is in the process of being demolished.
This is the second such incident this month. On Sept. 9, more than $5,400 worth of copper wire was reported stolen from the mall site.
