Discovery Telescope talk set
TOLEDO - The Toledo Astronomical Association will present J.D. Smith on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the fourth floor classroom of McMaster Hall.
The assistant professor of astronomy at the University of Toledo will discuss the Discovery Telescope and the University of Toledo's relationship with it. The Discovery Telescope, funded in part by the Discovery Channel, is located at the Lowell Observatory near Flagstaff, Arizona.
The University of Toledo, together with the University of Maryland and Boston University have contributed and have dedicated time on this telescope. The University of Toledo was the first research partner to utilize the telescope and has some of the first research images taken by the telescope.
The public is invited to the talk.
Carruth to sign his work
WATERVILLE - Sculptor George Carruth will be signing his work at Waterville Garden Smiles, 211 Mechanic St., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Since 1983, Carruth has produced over 500 original designs for the home and garden.
Turkey hunt for people with
disabilities is this weekend
TOLEDO - The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority, Wheelin' Sportsmen/National Wild Turkey Federation Maumee Valley Chapter and the Ohio Division of Wildlife will host a turkey hunt for hunters with disabilities on Saturday and Sunday on the property of Toledo Express Airport. The hunters will depart at 5:30 a.m. and return at noon for lunch and photos.
The purpose of this hunt is to team-up able-bodied guides with hunters with disabilities to assist the Toledo Express Airport in their Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
Civil War roundtable is Sat.
TIFFIN -The monthly meeting of the Johnson's Island Civil War Roundtable will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at T.J. Willie's Restaurant in Tiffin.
Dennis Studrawa and Rex H. Felton will moderate a discussion, "A 150th Anniversary Study of the Chancellorsville Campaign".
The meeting is open to all interested in the Civil War.
Members and guests may choose to dine and chat beginning at 5:15 p.m..
