Wildflower walk is Sunday
VAN BUREN - A Spring Wildflower Walk will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Van Buren State Park.
The group will meet at the South Shore Shelterhouse No 3 off of Township Road 229.
Wildflower identification and folklore will be discussed along a woodland trail.
Sturdy waterproof footgear recommended.
German Lutheran Heritage group to meet Sunday
ARCHBOLD - The German Lutheran Heritage Association will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. for its spring meeting. The meeting will be held at the Lutheran Social Services complex south of Archbold on Ohio 66.
Pastor Paul Weber will present a topic on the history of the Lutheran Church of Northwest Ohio.
Members and non-members are invited to attend. There is no admission charge. Refreshments of coffee, drinks and snacks will be served.
Wildlife SOS founder to speak Wed. at zoo
TOLEDO - The Toledo Zoo offers a free evening with Kartick Satyanarayan, founder of Wildlife SOS in India, on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
He will discuss his successes in sloth bear anti-poaching and orphan rescue efforts, including his work to end the "dancing bear" practice in India that had persisted for centuries.
The talk will be in the zoo's historic Indoor Theatre, at its Museum of Science.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is available at no charge in the Zoo's Anthony Wayne Trail lot; the gates will open to the public at 6:15 p.m.
This presentation is suitable for ages 12 and up, and it is free and open to the public; donations (to support the continuing work of Wildlife SOS) will be accepted.
Civil War roundtable talk will be April 28 in Tiffin
TIFFIN -The monthly meeting of the Johnson's Island Civil War Roundtable will be held April 28 at 7 p.m. at T.J. Willie's Restaurant in Tiffin.
Dennis Studrawa and Rex H. Felton will moderate a traditional round-table discussion, "A 150th Anniversary Study of the Chancellorsville Campaign".
The meeting is free. Members and guests may choose to dine and chat beginning at 5:15 pm.
