PERRYSBURG — Ace Hardware’s distribution center in Perrysburg Township will close next year.
The Fifth Street facility, which employs about 100 workers, will cease operations, likely in the final quarter of 2014, Kate Kirkpatrick, director of corporate communications for Ace Hardware, confirmed this morning.
Property records indicate the company purchased the Fifth Street location for $5.6 million in 1976.
The Perrysburg Township center supplies more than 300 retail hardware stores in Ohio, Michigan and northern Kentucky.
Kirkpatrick said the move will allow the company to better optimize its supply chain.
Perrysburg Township officials said they were unaware of the company’s plan to close the distribution center.
