Abigail Cary loves a good yard sale. Recently, her hobby turned into a new business venture as she now
owns Abigail’s Attic at 106 Napoleon Road.
"This is not a consignment shop. It’s a second-hand thrift store here for the community," said
Cary, a Bowling Green native.
The store has a little bit of everything for everybody, Cary said. Items in the store include: jewelry,
households items, furniture, electronics, and more.
"I love a good bargain. I love a good sale," she said. "In a sense, it is like having an
indoor yard sale all year round."
Cary considers her store a service to the community with reasonable prices and items people have a need
for.
"I am trying to listen to the community," she said.
Cary opened up her store in December and is already expanding to the space next door thanks to a positive
response.
"They enjoy what I am trying to do here for the community," she said.
"So many donations are pouring through the door everyday."
She depends on both donations and her own shopping skills to furnish her inventory.
It first began with Cary going to yard and estate sales and then "word spread like wildfire,"
she was trying to collect items needed by the community.
"Before I knew it, my garage was completely full and it expanded to my mother’s garage and I knew I
needed a building," she said.
In addition to being a second-hand thrift store, Cary’s business also offers pickup-service for people
wanting to donate items. The store also delivers, for a small fee, depending on where a person lives.

Tuxedo rentals are also offered.
Part of her goal as a business owner is to be charitable and to be environmentally conscious.
If high school students rent tuxedos from her store for prom, she will donate a small percentage of the
sale back to the school. Also, if Bowling Green State University students rent tuxedos for formal
functions, they will have the option of donating a percentage back to the school or to an organization.

She is also working to have items that cannot be sold given to organizations that have other uses for
them.
"I am trying to put them to use as much as possible without throwing them away," Cary said.
Abigail’s Attic is open Monday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5
p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
