De Pue wins Green Dot prize
Wallace De Pue Sr. of Bowling Green, was one of seven winners of the Green Dot Journey Composer Project
Competition.
All the pieces, written for violin and piano, depict different regions of the United States and Canada
and will be performed at house concerts and art gallery shows on the Green Dot Journey starting in
September.
Premiere concert for all the winners will be held Aug. 23 in the McKinley Arts & Culture Center,
in Reno Nevada.
The concert will be streamed live at www.greendotjourney.com.
This is the third national competition De Pue has won in the past several months.
Bruce Moss marks 35th year of leading Wheaton band
Bruce Moss, director of band activities at Bowling Green State University, will celebrate 35 years as
conductor of the Wheaton Municipal Band, with a concert July 31 in the Illinois city.
The band’s more than 80 members must audition every year, and include some of the finest musicians in the
Chicago area.
At the July 31 concert, Moss and the band will perform some of the favorites from his tenure with the
ensemble.
Trumpeter John Hagstrom of Chicago Symphony and a former member of the band will be the featured soloist.

The band plays a 10-concert series every Thursday at 8 p.m. This year’s series continues through Aug. 14.

Jazz siren Biddlestone headlines jazz series show
TOLEDO – Singer Glenda Biddlestone will perform a Jazz on the Maumee concert Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30
p.m. in the Aqua Lounge at the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St.
Joining her will be guitarist Chris Buzzelli and pianist Kyle Turner.
Cover charge is $15, $10 for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Society and $5 for students.
‘Honk’ on Genoa stage
GENOA – The Oak Harbor Genoa Summer Theatre will stage the musical "Honk," July 24, 25 and 26
at 7:30 p.m. and Juy 27 at 2 p.m. in the Genoa Civic Theatre,509 1/2 Main St.
With music by George Stiles and lyrics and book by Anthony Drewe, "Honk" is a retelling of
"The Ugly Duckling."
Tickets are $10.
