Captain Sweet Shoes to play Perrysburg market concert
PERRYSBURG – The duo Captain Sweet Shoes will perform Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. as part of the Music
at the Market series on the lawn of the Commodore School Yard on the corner of Louisiana and Indiana
Ave.
The group features singer Anthony Beck and multi-instrumentalist Allen Spencer, who plays primarily
percussion but can add saxophone, mandolin, tuba and accordion.
In the event of inclement weather the concert will move into the Judy Beck Auditorium in the Commodore
Building.

Verandah concerts open with boogie woogie piano
FREMONT – Boogie woogie pianist Matthew Ball, The Boogie Woogie Kid, will perform the opening show in the
2014 Verandah Concert series at the Hayes Presidential Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The concert is preceded by an ice cream social at 6:45 p.m. on the lawn.
Trained as a lawyer Ball was inspired by performances her heard at the 2001 Motor City Boogie-Woogie
Festival. After studying with Bob Seeley, he performed in 2005 at a festival in Cincinnati and has gone
on to perform widely including on National Public Radio.
Verandah Concerts at the Hayes Presidential Center take place twice a month on Wednesday nights during
June, July, and August.

Turner & friends booked for Jazz on Maumee show
TOLEDO – Keyboard player Kyle Turner and friends will perform a Jazz on the Maumee concert Wednesday from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Aqua Lounge at the Grand Plaza Hotel, 444 N Summit St. Cover charge is $15, $10
for members of the Art Tatum Jazz Society and $5 for students.
