The statewide annual VFW and VFW Auxiliary conventions were held simultaneously in Perrysburg over the weekend.
Women met at the Perrysburg Hilton Garden Inn; men met at the French Quarter.
More than 400 people were expected to attend each session.
It’s been about a decade since the state conventions were last held in Wood County.
The Ladies Auxiliary had a joint memorial service with the VFW on Thursday at the Holiday Inn French Quarter.
On Friday, the winners of the Department of Ohio Jr. Unit Scholarship, Creative Patriotic Arts, and the Americanism Recipient were introduced. One of the top three women’s awards went to Pam Hays, a Perrysburg area resident. She received the Ohio VFW Auxiliary’s 2013 Americanism Award.
Friday afternoon, the auxiliary held the Massing of the Colors, where each 12 district presidents with her flag is followed by her auxiliaries and their flags.
On Saturday the Outstanding Auxiliary Presidents and District Presidents were announced and presented with their medals.
Election of 2013-14 officers took place at both sites and was followed by installation ceremonies.
