Twenty-three members and one guest met at Dyer's Restaurant on March 16 for a luncheon meeting.
Sharon Nigh gave a report from the scholarship committee, made up of Nigh, Lois Zeh and Jill Bortel. Sixteen applications for mini-grants were received. Those chosen for funding, for a total of $970.60, were: Jill Dewey, Elmwood; Megan Dunn, Rossford; Jenna Riepenhoff and Jennifer Ostrowski, both Bowling Green; Susan Riegger, Otsego; Pat Willford, Eastwood, and Kathleen Svchulak, Lake.
President Teri Hansen thanked Bortel, Zeh and Nigh for their continued work and thanked all members for helping to raise funds through the December silent auction to support the grants. Mary Ellen Pratt commented on how nice it was to see the grants given to schools throughout the county.
Pratt announced that in April members will vote on a budget for the 2013-2014 year and be given a brief survey to complete.
The possibility of donating scrapbooks from past years to the Bowling Green State University archives is being investigated.
Mary Ann Hoare received donations for the Cocoon Shelter which are collected at each meeting from UWE members
Member Kathleen Frederick spoke on "Shades of Green, Pubs and Scones". She and her husband  toured Ireland in 2001. She described touring lovely gardens, and visiting ancient underground burial grounds dating from 3000 BC,  the steep Cliffs of Moore, and Trinity College. Frederick shared textiles, a Belleek vase, books and even a scone.
One person at each table received a shamrock plant.
UWE will meet April 16 at the Eastwood High School library where Betsy Hood, the technical director, will discuss e-learning.
