The Zonta Club of Bowling Green, dedicated to improving the status of women, is again providing scholarships to women age 25 years and older. This financial assistance is given annually to one or two women living in Wood County who are non-traditional students.
The maximum scholarship for 2013 will be $2,000.
In addition to being a county resident, the award recipient must show financial need; have earned a high school diploma or GED; and be eligible to enroll or already be enrolled in a post-secondary program of study. Eligible programs include four-year university or college, massage school, two-year college, cosmetology school, graduate school, other job or career training, or technical training.
The award is restricted to tuition, books, or school supplies. It will be sent directly to the school upon evidence of enrollment.
A scholarship application packet is available at the Zonta website at www.bgzonta.org or request one by mail to: Zonta Club of Bowling Green, Attention Scholarship Committee, PO Box 745, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402.
The application deadline is March 28.
The Zonta Club of BG is part of a larger, international organization known as Zonta International. Founded in 1919, it is a global service organization of executives in business and the professions working together, across political and social boundaries. Zonta members volunteer their time, talents, and money to local and international service programs, as well as scholarship and award programs aimed at furthering women's education, leadership, and youth development.
The Bowling Green Club was chartered in 1999.
