A dinner planned by Jane Gerkens and honoring milestone pin recipients Donna Snyder, Dorothy Woods, and Sue Potter was held prior to the Aug. 6 meeting of Greenwood Order of Eastern Star Chapter.
Katie Ann Cochrane, Greenwood's 2013 scholarship recipient, was also honored at the dinner. Cochrane will be attending Ohio Northern University with a double major in accounting and management.
Worthy Matron Denise Zephier opened the meeting with theme information on The Making of Relatives. First done to make peace between the Lakota Sioux and the Arikara tribes, the rite was performed to adopt the Arikara, making a close relationship with them.
Karen Schwab presented Snyder and Woods with 65-year membership pins and Linda Cotrell presented Potter with a 60-year membership pin. The presenters gave the extensive Eastern Star history of each of the three women.
All members are reminded of the meeting with two members of the Mergers and Consolidations Committee, slated for Tuesday at 7 p.m., at the Stadium View Apartments party room, 1700 Juniper Drive, Bowling Green.
The annual Masonic Picnic will be held next Saturday, Aug. 24, at the stone shelter in city park. Meal time is 4 p.m., with entertainment beginning earlier in the afternoon. Meat and table service will be provided.
Perrysburg Chapter will entertain Greenwood members on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Plan to wear chapter attire unless otherwise announced.
Greenwood's next meeting will be Sept. 3.
