MAUMEE - Mom's House of Toledo - a Toledo non-profit organization that supports the educational efforts of low-income, single, young mothers - is celebrating its 20th year of service with its Mom's Night Out Annual Gala and Auction at The Pinnacle on May 10
This gala has the theme "Believe." The founder of Mom's House, Nancy Nudo, will be honored as "Mom of The Year."
Janel Zbierajewski, the first mom to walk through the doors at Mom's House with her daughter Kelsey, will address the supporters. Janel, pregnant at 17, was scared and vulnerable, uncertain about her future. She now glows with pride at the success of her daughter. Kelsey's father, Heath, attributes the success of their now 20-year-old daughter to the foundation, love and education that Mom's House offered them both 20 years ago.
Kelsey, now a sophomore at Ohio State University, is an excellent student who advocates for children who have parents with cancer. Kelsey leads a summer camp that changes the lives of young children. She also volunteers at several different organizations and will be going on a mission trip out of the country this summer.
Janel, Heath and Kelsey will tell their story together and will also present Mom's House with a 20th anniversary donation.
Past Mom's House galas have paid tribute to celebrity moms such as Gladys Knight, Kaye Lani Rafko-Wilson, Mary Beth Zolik, Fran Anderson, and Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown.
Tickets for the 20th anniversary Mom's Night Out for Mom's House are $100 each and tables of 10 are $950. The evening will feature 7 p.m. cocktails, grazing stations and live and silent auctions.
