| Look Good Feel Better class for local women with cancer |

The Look Good Feel Better program, designed for women who are going through cancer treatment, is being offered this month in Bowling Green. It will be held March 21 at 6 p.m. at Wood County Hospital. Hope, confidence and caring are three words that embody Look Good Feel Better. The program, a collaboration of the American Cancer Society, the Personal Care Products Council Foundation and the National Cosmetology Association/Professional Beauty Association, celebrates woman and their cancer journey. The session is free, and while it offers no medical advice, Look Good Feel Better programs have helped to deliver courage, confidence, control, community and caring to each participant. The goal is to help women with cancer improve their self-esteem and manage their cancer treatment and recovery through workshops, practical tips and guidance. “Over the past 20 years we’ve provided support to 650,000 women” who have previously or are currently coping with cancer, said Louanne Roark, executive director of the Personal Care Products Foundation and the national Look Good Feel Better program. During the program, volunteer cosmetologists educate cancer patients with step by step make-up techniques, hairstyling, head wraps, and nail tips. Each woman gets a donated makeup kit to use during and after the workshop. “Enhancing a woman’s confidence, her inner beauty, by giving her the support and the tools she needs to manage her changing appearance during cancer treatment, contributes to a sense of encouragement and hope,” says Roark.
