BG High School class of '57 plans reunion Aug. 10-12 The Bowling Green High school class of 1957 will hold its 55th reunion the weekend of Aug. 10-12. Festivities begin with a Friday night get-together at 7 p.m. at SamB's Restaurant's Garden Room on South Main Street. A Saturday morning golf outing at the Bowling Green Country Club is planned for 9 a.m.
The Saturday reunion dinner will be held at the country club at 7 p.m. The final event is a Sunday brunch at the country club at 10 a.m. Classmates who want to respond or want more information can contact Dan Spitler at

Black Swamp Quilt Guild will hear applique expert Haren The Black Swamp Quilt Guild will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. and visitors are welcome. The program will be presented by Penny Haren. She has over 20 years experience and has developed a quick and easy technique for pieced applique. Her process eliminates inset points and curves. She has written several books and magazine articles and has designed rulers and fabric for quilting. Members are asked to bring black, red, or white fat quarters for the fat quarter raffle.
Mental Culture Club Seven members of the Mental Culture Club met at the home of Marcena Bockbrader June 12 for their annual Ladies Day Out. They had lunch at OSAKA's a Japanese restaurant on Navarre Avenue in Oregon. The onion volcanoes were the hit of the day. They returned to Bockbrader home to play Squirrelee bridge. The hostess served dessert and strawberry wine.
Greenwood OES Several members dined at Beckett's followed by our investment advisor counseling us on our accounts prior to the meeting on July 3. Theme information was on Independence National Historical Park that covers three blocks of Philadelphia. The park was created in 1951 so the American people could preserve their history. It is the home of the original Declaration of Independence and the Liberty Bell. Several ladies met at the home of Elizabeth Strow in June and completed seven blankets for Project Linus, a national project that provides blankets to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need of comfort. Moonlighters will have a picnic at the home of Kurt Bradley on July 17 with plans to dine around 6:30. Bring your own meat to grill and a side dish to share. Drinks and table service will be provided and the swimming pool will be available. A 6:15 dinner will be held in the lodge dining room prior to the Aug. 7 meeting. Jane Gerkens will be coordinating the meal. The group's scholarship recipient, David Nabinger, and his family will be invited, as well as those members who will be receiving milestone membership pins.
