Health center closed today
The Wood County Health District and health center are closed today due to the weather. Any patients or
clients who had appointments will be contacted to reschedule when the offices open.
Weather causes traffic crashes
Several traffic incidents were reported this morning on area roadways.
The Ohio Department of Transportation, via their OHGO website, reported that Interstate 75 northbound,
between I-75 and I-475, was closed due to an accident. As of 9:30 a.m. there was no estimated time of
reopening. The I-75/I-475 ramp was closed as well.
A crash between a snow plow and a van was reported in the 15000 block of Mitchell Road. An initial report
indicated minor injuries.
Additionally, there was the report of a jackknifed semi tractor-trailer on I-75 southbound near the U.S.
6. interchange. No injuries were reported, though there was concern over a possible fuel leak.
Accused Elmwood duo withdraw from school
JERRY CITY – Two Elmwood High School students accused of scamming area residents by going door to door
asking for donations for a sick teacher, have withdrawn from school, according to Superintendent Tony
Borton.
The two brothers, a freshman and a junior, are now being schooled at home, he said.
Charges have not been filed against the two as the case is still under investigation.
Health board meets Thursday
The Wood County Board of Health will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wood County Health District.
