Toy giveaway Wednesday
PERRYSBURG - The Play it Forward Used Toy Giveaway, a distribution of toys to local organizations and charities, will be held Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Cousino Harris Disaster Kleen Up, 2690 Eckel Road.
The fifth annual toy drive collected two 30-foot box trucks full of gently used toys in early February. After weeks of cleaning and organizing, the toys are ready to be given to local children in need.
Over the years the toys have been distributed in a variety of ways, including giveaway events at the Wayman Palmer YMCA, Toledo's Erie Street Market and by dropping off directly to shelters. This year area organizations such as Family House, Friendly Center and Lucas County Children Services are being invited to come and "shop" the toys at Cousino-Harris during the two-hour period on Wednesday.
Toys are sorted by age group and category, including books, puzzles, games, educational and stuffed animals. The intention is for each organization to leave with a collection of toys that can either be used in their facility or distributed to the families.
Cousino Harris is located at Levis Commons.
