BG's Joan Gordon a Jefferson finalist
MAUMEE - Joan H. Gordon of Bowling Green was named a Top 14 finalist in the Jefferson Awards for the Toledo Area in a ceremony held at Parkway Place.
The awards honor individual achievements and contributions through public service and community service.
The 14 finalists were chosen from a field of 61 Toledo area residents nominated by organizations and individuals. Gordon was nominated by the Wood County Committee on Aging and the Wood County Commissioners.
Four of the 14 finalists were announced Thursday as this year's award winners.

Bridge Bereavement offering 'Sprouting Hope' event for kids
Bridge Bereavement Services will be holding a program for children who have lost a loved one. The program, called Sprouting Hope, allows children ages 6 through 12 to come together with their peers to participate in activities that will help them express their feelings, create lasting memories of their loved one and have fun at the same time.
Sprouting Hope will be held March 5 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Bowling Green, and March 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in Findlay. Dinner will be provided for children in attendance.
