Feb. 14 lecture topic: Valentine's cards
MAUMEE - "Be My Valentine - Through Cards and Letters" will be the topic of Thursday's Wolcott House Guild Lecture.
The lecture, held at the Maumee Library, will take place at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.
Eric Honneffer, a document conservator and manuscript specialist at Bowling Green State University's Center for Archival Collections and the Browne Popular Culture Library, will tell tales of love and affection through the ages via his collection and collation of Valentine cards and love letters from many sources.
The library is located at 501 River Road. Home schoolers are welcome to attend this event, and refreshments will be served by the guild after the lecture.

A free Valentine's Day dinner party for people facing divorce
MAUMEE - Valentine's Day is a day when people in love enjoy sharing the day with each other. However, it can be a depressing and lonely time for people who are separated or divorced. That's why First Presbyterian Church of Maumee, 200 E. Broadway St., is hosting The Mending Hearts Valentine's Day Dinner Party.  
The 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday event is free and open to the public.
The evening is designed to offer encouragement, friendship, and tools to help deal with the pain from a breakup, In addition to the dinner, those attending will receive information about DivorceCare, a support group that provides continued resources and encouragement for the days following Valentine's Day, said Clint Tolbert, pastor.
