Kidney Foundation to host Wine Affair

MAUMEE – The Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio will be hosting The Wine Affair on Nov. 22 at
Parkway Place, 2500 Parkway Plaza. This is the 22nd consecutive year for the event.This year’s theme is
"A Perfect Pairing" of wine and friends. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.The evening will feature both live
and silent auctions, along with dinner hors d’oeuvres from area restaurants, wines from some of the finest
distributors, and live entertainment. Participating restaurants include: Bar 145, Edible Arrangements,
Kotobuki, Lazeez, Manhattans, Rose and Thistle, Super Suppers, Swig’s, Zoup! and Zinful.Chrys Peterson, WTOL
television anchor, will be the evening’s emcee and Dr. Allen Flickinger is honorary medical chairman.Funds
raised during The Wine Affair will support the efforts of KFNWO to help local patients manage kidney
disease.As one of the top ten leading causes of death in Northwest Ohio, the foundation strives to provide
care and services that help patients live their lives with kidney disease. Its services range from
transportation to and from dialysis treatments to financial assistance for medication.The Wine Affair is the
area foundation’s largest annual fundraiser, contributing $90,000 toward the organization’s revenue that is
used to fund programs that directly help local kidney disease patients, including those in Wood County.Here
are some of the latest statistics regarding kidney disease:• Kidney disease is among the top ten leading
causes of death in Northwest Ohio;• More than 13,000 Ohioans receive dialysis for treatment, of those;
nearly 4,000 are in Northwest Ohio;• 26 million American adults have chronic kidney disease;• More than
367,000 Americans rely on dialysis for survival and 75 percent of adult patients on dialysis cannot attend
work or school;• Over 87,000 Americans are awaiting a kidney transplant today.Order tickets to The Wine
