PERRYSBURG - Way Library is inviting all Downton Abbey fans to a "high society" tea party on June 18 at 7 p.m. on the library's lower level.
Cathy Kamenca of WGTE public television will host the program which will include tea and assorted finger foods, light-hearted giveaways, trivia, behind-the-scenes clips, and even some Season IV spoilers.
Downton Abbey has become a cultural phenomenon among Americans and British alike, who seem fascinated by the fictional account of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. In the Masterpiece Theater television series, Dame Maggie Smith portrays Violet Crawley, the always quotable Dowager Countess of Grantham, whose one-liners spare none.
The tea party is free and open to adults, and reservations are not necessary.
In order to fully "immerse in the manor house experience," tea party guests are encouraged - but not required - to dress in period attire, and are asked to bring their own tea cup.
This program is part of Way Library's adult summer reading program and is sponsored by Directions Credit Union. The library is located at the intersection of wIndiana and Louisiana Avenues.
