PEMBERVILLE - The 40th annual George Jacobs family reunion was held July 29 at the Pemberville American Legion Hall, with 132 people in attendance for the traditional chicken barbecue.
Family patriarch George Jacob would have turned 134 years old on Aug. 5 were he still living. George and his wife Bess had 10 children and 36 grandchildren.
Those recognized were: the oldest present, Florence Hummel, 96; youngest present, 10-month-old Lauren Ostrander; and coming the longest distance, Kirk Buchman, from Fort Myers, Fla.
Ruth Riley celebrated her 90th birthday on July 8, and Sue Glass her 60th on July 30.
Pictures of two of the sisters, Alice Mock and Lois Alexander, were passed out - one as part of the 40th annual bookmark.
Afternoon activities including guessing how many candies were contained in a gallon bag; bingo games; and new this year, a Chinese raffle.
Next year's reunion will also be held at the Pemberville legion hall, on July 28.
