Raising young children is one of the toughest, if most rewarding, jobs in the world - and kids don't come with directions. Parents of children 1 to 8 years of age can get help juggling its many challenges by enrolling in the "Incredible Years" class.
Registration is being accepted for two new sessions.
The Incredible Years Infant/Toddler program is for parents of children from 1 through 3 years old. It will begin next Wednesday, March 13, and will continue for 12 weeks, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Jordan Family Development Center in Bowling Green.
An IY program for parents of children ages 4 through 8 will also be held at the Jordan Center beginning March 13, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. This is a 14-week session.
Limited child care and a light meal for parents is provided for all sessions. There is no cost for participants.
Offered by the Children's Resource Center in Bowling Green and supported by grant funds through the Wood County Family and Children First Council and the United Way,
The Incredible Years curriculum shows parents how to increase children's self-esteem and self-confidence, strengthen their children's social skills, discipline effectively, and enrich children's relationships. Any primary caregiver in a child's life is welcome to attend.
Because class space is limited, those interested should register promptly by calling Kristin Nagel, Cindy Eckel or Angie Patchen at the CRC at 419-352-7588 or toll-free 1-888-466-KIDS.
Developed by experts at the University of Washington, The Incredible Years program aims to build parents' skills so that they can better promote their children's social and emotional competence. The Incredible Years is recommended by the American Psychological Association.
