The Wood County Hospital Guild will celebrate its 60th anniversary on Monday with an event called
"Get Your Green On!"
The public is invited to join guild members from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Wood County Hospital Atrium to
celebrate 60 years of service with food, drink and fun on St. Patrick’s Day.
At 6 p.m. there will be an announcement of the 60 Forward Campaign and raffle basket winners.
Tickets for the event are $30 per person. Reservations are due in advance. Call Cheryl Windisch,
reservations chairperson, at 419-352-8514, or Laurie Newlove at 419-354-8942.
Formed on March 27, 1954, over the past six decades the guild has donated over $1 million dollars to Wood
County Hospital in the forms of equipment purchases, room and department decorating, start up materials
for new programming and many other items that enhance the overall patient experience at the hospital.

"Many of the guild members volunteer regular shifts in various areas of the hospital while others
help in fundraising and special events," noted Laurie Newlove, the hospital’s director of
volunteers.
At the "Get Your Green On" event, past guild presidents and two surviving founders from 1954
will be recognized.
Speakers from six hospital departments will share stories of how the guild has enriched their area over
the decades.
As an example, the Wellness Department will talk about its Wellness van – purchased by the guild – that
goes on the road to educate school children, and visits manufacturers for wellness screenings.
The Obstetrics Department will show the gift bags, packaged and donated by the guild, that each new
mother takes home following the birth of her child.
The evening will culminate with 2014 Guild President Scotty Huntington announcing the guild’s $100,000
commitment to the hospital’s Cancer Center opening this month.
