TOLEDO - Heartbeat of Toledo, a pregnancy support center, is looking for volunteers to serve at either its West Sylvania or Varland offices. A new volunteer training is planned for Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. at Heartbeat's office at 4041 W. Sylvania Ave., Suite LL4, directly across from Westfield Franklin Park Mall. "We have greatly expanded our hours and services and need additional volunteers to help us accomplish our mission to help women facing unplanned pregnancies and families in need," notes Pat Todak, Heartbeat executive director. Heartbeat provides information, free pregnancy testing, free ultrasounds, options counseling, and assistance to women who are or may be pregnant. They also offer prenatal and parenting classes where moms and moms-to-be can earn baby items while learning how to become better parents. Training consists of a two-hour orientation plus supervised training with a current volunteer. To register, call Heartbeat at 419-241-9131. A volunteer application is also available on the website, www.heartbeatoftoledo.org. |
