Start the new year fresh with a non-diet, common sense approach to healthy living.
A six-week series of classes titled Healthy Habits for Life will be offered in February and March by Ohio State University Extension Wood County.
Classes are one hour a week for six weeks on Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Commissioners' Hearing Room at the Wood County Court House. Class dates are Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5, 12.
This series offers an easy, step-by-step approach to putting together a lifelong eating and fitness plan. The program will help attendees break the diet cycle, assess their current diet, set up a personalized eating plan, establish activity goals, be restaurant savvy, stock a healthy kitchen, create quick and easy menus and plan for eating on the run.
The program includes six food and activity journals, one Food Facts booklet, interactive worksheets and additional resources.
The series is being taught by Extension Wood County Family and Consumer Sciences professionals.
Each participant will receive a three-ring binder book Healthy Habits For Life. The book complies with the American Heart Association Dietary Guidelines for Healthy American Adults, the USDA Dietary Guidelines and the Surgeon General's Healthy People 2010 Goals.
Cost is $25 and pre-registration is required. Call 419-354-9050.
The first 10 people to call, register and pre-pay, will receive a $5 early-bird discount.
