Greenwood Order of Eastern Star members held a potluck dinner coordinated by Jane Gerkens prior to the Aug. 5 meeting.
The chapter's 2012 scholarship recipient, David Nabinger, and members of his family were guests. Nabinger, a 2012 Bowling Green High School graduate, was presented a $1,000 scholarship from Greenwood OES and plans to major in middle childhood education at Bowling Green State University this fall.
Carol Gonyer was presented her 50-year membership pin by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Strow, who was also worthy matron of Weston Chapter in 1962 when Gonyer joined Eastern Star. Gonyer has served as worthy matron of the Weston Chapter several times and has held other offices in both Weston and Greenwood Chapters.

A joint memorial was held for past Grand Patron William Dunlap and for Keith Bradley, a 47-year member of Greenwood.
The evening's featured park was the Giant Forest within Sequoia National Park, established in 1890. Many trees are estimated to be over 3,000 years old, up to 300 feet tall and 35 feet wide at their base.
