The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's (NOCC) 5th annual Karen Creque Golf Memorial will be held Sunday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stone Ridge Country Club in Bowling Green.
It's a little known fact that ovarian cancer causes more deaths than any other gynecologic cancer. And yet, ovarian cancer can be highly curable when discovered in its early stages.
In this special golfing event, titled "Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer," the Women's Oncology Research & Dialogue (WORD) is partnering with NOCC to raise both funds and awareness of this significant gynecologic cancer, while remembering Karen Creque. The tournament will be a full day of golf, food, fun and prizes.

WORD is an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women conquer gynecologic cancers through coordinating innovative scientific and clinical research, resulting in educating women's organizations and medical personnel about proper prevention, diagnosis and treatment. It also has an office in Toledo.

The organization's sixth annual Walk to Break the Silence in memory of Ellen Jackson will be held Sept. 18 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. In October the annual Survivor Luncheon is planned.
