PERRYSBURG TOWNSHIP - The Office on Violence Against Women is offering a Domestic Violence Refresher Class on June 27 at Owens Community College. It will cover domestic violence laws, legal requirements, updates, preferred arrest policies, officer safety issues and protection orders and legal updates. The class is the sixth in a series of seven training projects made possible by a grant from the OVAW. The target audience is law enforcement, community service providers, attorneys and court personnel. The class will be led by Marianne Hemmeter, associate attorney general, and Ron Davitt, law enforcement training officer. The day's schedule will include registration and sign-in at 8:30 a.m., morning training from 9 until noon, lunch, and afternoon training from 1 to 3. Light refreshments will be furnished. There is no fee for the class, for which 4.5 CLE credit hours are pending. Pre-registration is mandatory. Do so by by visiting: http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/OPOTAregistration.
