Dr. Dean A. Carlson and Jadwiga A. Carlson of Perrysburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Lena Alexandria, to Nathan Michael Shay, son of John and Melissa Estep Shay of Enon.
The future bride graduated in 2010 from Notre Dame Academy, Toledo, and is slated to receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ohio Northern University, Ada, in May 2014. She plans to attend medical school in the fall of 2014.  
Her fiancé also expects to graduate from Ohio Northern in May, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He intends to attend graduate school in the fall of 2014.
A wedding date has not yet been set.

Rod and Lori (Ziegler) Smith, Bloomdale, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.
They were married Dec. 17, 1988 at St. Zion United Brethren Church, Wayne.
The Smiths have three children, Joshua, Emily and Aaron.

Brian and Pam Day, Wayne, announce the engagement of their daughter, Katie, to Andrew Alexander of Bowling Green. He is the son of Eric and Darla Alexander, Wayne.
The bride-to-be graduated from Elmwood High School in 2010 and is employed as a logistics asset protection officer at Best Buy Distribution Center in Findlay.
The groom, a 2008 Elmwood graduate, is employed at Rosenboom Machine and Tool in Bowling Green.
They plan an April 5 wedding at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Wayne.

PERRYSBURG - Elisha Dierker and Joel Borton exchanged wedding vows Oct. 25 at CedarCreek Church.
Ben Snyder conducted the 4 p.m. ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Lori Dierker, Pemberville Road, Pemberville. The groom is the son of Todd and Jennie Borton, Centerburg.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory lace over satin gown with a corset back. The strapless lace bodice was embellished with a band of pearls, rhinestones, bugle beads and sequins along the neckline. Sequins were scattered throughout the lace of the gown, with a beaded motif accent at the hip. Scalloped lace encircled the hemline and chapel train. She wore a two-tier ivory veil edged with crystals, bugle beads and pearls.

Kellee and Benjamin Downard, Weston, have chosen the name Lucy Elaine for their daughter born Nov. 22 at Wood County Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces, and is welcomed home by a brother, Julian, 5, and sister, Sadie, 2. Grandparents are Charles and Peggy Downard, Bowling Green, and Scott and Christine Pullen, Napoleon. Great-grandparents are Harmon Downard, Bowling Green; Ethel Brown, Swanton; and John and Betty Pullen, Defiance.
