Clarence and Wilma (Bitter) Smithers, Millbury, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
They were married April 20, 1963 at Zion Lutheran Church in Latcha, They met during their school years at Lake Local Schools, graduating in 1960.
They have four children: Mark, Whitehouse; Karen Cutcher, Millbury; Jill Kao, Point Place, and Eric of Curtice. There are three grandchildren, Joshua, Stephanie and Amanda.
Clarence Smithers retired in 1999 after working 38 years for General Motors, Toledo Plant. Wilma worked in the banking industry and at Genoa Schools.  They are members of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Williston.
In mid-May, the couple along with their children, grandchildren and siblings, will celebrate with a family dinner. The couple is also planning a trip to the western national parks.
