|Abortion survivor guest at Heartbeat pregnancy center March banquet|

TOLEDO - "Life is Beautiful" is the theme of Heartbeat of Toledo's annual fundraising banquet planned for March 14 at the Premier Banquet Hall, 4480 Heatherdowns.
Doors open at 6 p.m.
Guest speaker will be Gianna Jessen, who survived a saline abortion performed on her birthmother during her third trimester. Jessen's story was the inspiration for the 2012 film "October Baby." She also performs a song on the film's soundtrack.
At the event, Heartbeat will present two awards: the John Hillabrand and Lore Maier Life Champion Award and the Esther Applegate Volunteer Award.
The Life Champion award is named after the two individuals who began Heartbeat of Toledo 42 years ago and also went on to form Heartbeat International, a network of 1,400 pregnancy centers worldwide. The Volunteer Award is named after a founding volunteer at Heartbeat of Toledo.

Among the committee volunteers planning the 2013 banquet are Wood County residents Mary Jo Magill and Freeman, both of Perrysburg.
Heartbeat of Toledo center includes an early pregnancy clinic with free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds; and prenatal and parenting classes with an earn-while-you-learn program. New and expectant parents earn baby items by completing parenting classes. Heartbeat also offers Relationship Smarts and Just for Dads programs and a post-abortion healing support group.
